Eboman Samples Video

September 26, 2008 on 7:18 am | In Videos |

This link will take you to Eboman’s new video.

“Eboman specializes in the production of audiovisual sample compositions, the development of audiovisual sampling software and hardware and performances as a DVJ or with his SenSorSuit. The SenSorSuit is part of an audiovisual sampling system, called SenS, which Eboman is developing in cooperation with SmadSteck.”

The software he is using seems to be from Smadsteck and is called SenS IV. The video effects are kind of bizarre and distort across a 3d plane to the rhythm of the music.

Kinda cool! Go check out Eboman and his videos.

Here is a video of last year’s Games in Concert for Metal Gear Solid (Live Orchestra)

The Korg M50 Keyboard Workstation

September 15, 2008 on 4:48 pm | In Articles |

Its light! It comes in 3 models, 61, 73, and 88 keys.

View Image.Php-2

From first impressions it looks like the replacement for the TR models - which freakin bored me. It has a TOUCH SCREEN. It also has a VST plugin to control it for your DAW.

Ehm, I liked the angled controls!
“EDS” synthesis, new pianos, and classic keyboards. YAWN. Sounds boring. The M50 seems really early 90s in a bad way, but I have not played it yet.

Maybe if Korg sent me one I could give it a fair review HINT HINT.

Description:

The largest FM synthesizer on the entire planet at over 100 pounds. Packs the power of two Dx7s. Only 140 of this model were made, making it quite rare. You might see one on ebay or in classifieds rarely. Unlike the Yamaha DX7, it has its own red light up LED displays which tells you which parameters are being modified. Inclusion into the chip collection out of pure silly-ness. The only improvement I could think of on this was if they made it out of gold…or if it talked to you in the voice of K.I.T.T. Yamaha must have gotten their engineers together and said “hey lets make the most extravagantly heavy digital synthesizer ever”. Its still really lovable though. If you want these types signature digital of sounds nowadays, your better off getting a DX200, Native Instruments FM8, or just your computer’s generic VSTs. Its almost exactly the same because FM synthesis uses mathematical calculations instead of analog circuitry or analog modeling.

Year: 1985

Why: To make a redicoulously more expensive version of the Dx7.

Photos:

Super nice wood finish, and really nice keys.

Estimated Price: $4000ish U.S.

Sound Demos: I can’t find any claiming to be directly out of a DX1.

Links:

DX1 Plugin Board! Accepts Dx1 and Dx7 sounds.

Very Nice Photos showing its wood frame and inner circuits. Awesome hatch opening action…

[AudioLemon] Drexciya Interview - 27 mins

"Drexciya - Rare Interview with Liz Copeland (May 2002)

A truly inspiring interview from an individual 100% dedicated to their artform.

James Stinson died in Sept 2002, only a matter of months after this interview, aged just 32.
I didn't want this interview to fall under the radar of old and new Drexciya fans.

Unofficial video." thanks to
Lardossan for posting this.

Just in case you've not heard of Drexciya I made a little YouTube player. It starts with Hydro Theory one of my favourite Drexciya tracks.

[noizone.com] Music program received award from Google

Google's new mobile platform, Android will attract 3rd party developers as well as iPhone did it, for sure. Google wants to drive this process so they arranged Android Developer Challenge, a money-awarded competition for the best applications. A musical software toy from Australia, Rayfarla, work of Steve Oldmeadow was one of the winners, receiving a 100,000 USD award. What we can know at this time is that it is a teaching program dealing with virtual instruments, plus an arcde game with rhythmic basics. Check this interview with the developer at Androidguys.

[sighup's blog] SIGHUP blog is moving to a new home

There are some changes afoot at Intelligent Machinery. While we wait to see how things all shake out here, I thought it would be a good time to set up this blog on my own server, now that I have a web package that's fully able to accommodate such things.

New blog home:

http://blog.sighup.ca/

New RSS feed:

http://blog.sighup.ca/feed/

Update your bookmarks or RSS readers. It is a work in progress as I learn how to use and refine Wordpress effectively. All of the old content has been ported over, minus the comments, as I had no way to export them.

I still hope to be doing stuff around Intelligent Machinery, just not blogging, so I'm not leaving this fine and wonderful collective of ours.
