Rules for Collecting Collectible Synthesizers
August 27, 2010 on 7:24 pm | In Articles |1. Mostly hand made. No software based instruments. The object has permanence and is real. This is also rarity.
2. Has “Modern” features. For the time released, it is up to date or even advanced. (but still easy to use, check rule #5)
4. Has cultural significance. The instrument was used on a hit record or to create something fantastic
5. Adheres to basic design principles for ease of use and physical appearance. Using it would be a joy, and not a drag.
6. Inventive – something about the sound or appearance sets it apart from the others.
9. Produced by the “masters” of the genre. The company or person who created it has a reputation for making similiar products.
If you are able to recognize these traits, you will have a future collectible on your hands! These traits are applicable to other types of art and collectibles.

iamamiwhoami suckami
August 7, 2010 on 1:12 am | In Articles, Music Industry News, Videos |iamamiwhoami’s new video y is an artificial masterpiece. An untrained eye would not catch its hidden pop culture references. The music graces my ear like a fried swordfish wrapped in rubberbands. The amount of snow needed to create the white levels in this video could fill the pontiac silverdome!! Let me take you through this experience frame by frame….

The beginning of the video. I know this because theres no music and nothing is happening yet. Good thing I am patient and can wait 1 min 30 seconds while I check my facebook during this part.

Visually, this scene featuring toilet water in a tank serves as a major incongruent distraction and kinda reminds me of the delete key in Final Cut Pro.

Newt in Aliens. (1986)

An Aliens Fan Vid On Youtube (2010)
- Someone finally responded to my request about Celine Dion being trapped in mucus.

After carefully reviewing the kinetic movements of this Knight, I have come to the conclusion that it is none other than oscar winner and australian X-men star, Hugh Jackman.

Actually this video is a sexist overview of the reproductive cycle. NO!!!!!!, Its a commentary on the oil spill with Alice in Wonderland’s white queen. I was wrong, was I wrong?, all along, was I wrong? Watch for yourself.
Ebay Forecast
July 7, 2010 on 7:12 pm | In Articles |Most overpriced ebay items:
1. Korg Mini Keys, Triton Original, Moss chips, LE range – Stay away from anything that doesn’t say Electribe.
2. Circuit bent, custom & modified items. These are all basically damaged, so you should get a discount.
3. Lower end vintage Roland models (MC-202, SH series, Juno)
4. All Digital Rack Unit Romplers. You get the same functionality from a plugin (scrolling through presets). Why mess with midi?
5. Korg M1 etc. Tons of them out there, old, out of date technology. Super overpriced.
Better (Ebay) Alternates to New:
New Ebay Alternate:
1. Roland Gaia, Roland V-synth Keyboard
2. Dave Smith Mopho Keyboard, Dave Smith MEK (used), Little Phatty
3. Korg R3, Almost anything by a different company is a good alternative. R3 has the shittiest keybed ever made (and possibly others with mini-keys).
4. Korg Monotron, Casiotone Keyboard
Summary: Current interest in older digital keyboards has grown partly because of their ease of use & build quality. A standard quality keyboard is now considered premium and today’s new factory items can’t compete with them. The result is inflated interest in keyboards that should be hundreds less do to age. A lot of boards are being sold with missing pieces and problems but are still commanding $300+, which could be more than a home computer / laptop. Being very picky about what model you buy on ebay or switching totally to software are the best options.
It is very likely that your gear is worth more than what it was 6 months ago. You might consider selling items you no longer have a need for. Lots of impulse and inflated prices right now, along with low availability making things that shouldnt be, more rare than normal. Watch out for Paypal & Ebay fees! SELL!!
JX8P Patch Correction
June 30, 2010 on 7:24 pm | In Articles |Awhile back I released some patches for JX8p. It was a bulk sysex file. Well JX8p doesn’t use bulk sysex. It saves each file individually if you aren’t using a memory cartridge.
Here is the correct file for all the JX8p Patches: http://www.chipcollection.com/JX8PSoundsAllanDrake.zip
Instructions: Open with Sysex Librarian or other program. Set your JX8p to midi Channel 6!!!!

Soft Synth Coming
April 22, 2010 on 10:30 am | In Articles |I am programming a software synthesizer (Windows VST) and it will be for free, coming soon. It will have a powerful sound and basic controls. The reason I’m going with VST this time is ease of use in windows environments compared to mac’s C++ developer tools, which require both DSP and programming knowledge. I’ve used SonicBirth before, for making mac compatible plugins, but it seems abandoned now. So….a free, basic soft synth coming soon.
